POWERFIL

POWERFIL is a newly developed, Prefabricated, Vacuum formed highly insulating Direct pour Sleeves containing Ceramic Foam Filters. Runners , Ingates and Sprue can be eliminated since POWERFIL acts as one of the feeders and molten metal is directly poured into the sleeve. POWERFIL is available from filter diameters 40 mm to 90 mm in Pour – Down type of Sleeves.

To improve yield,simplifying running system design and feeding methods and thus reducing fettling requirements. When the metal is poured into the POWERFIL unit,the ceramic filter kept inside,traps slag and other non metallic incusions and at the same time its interconnected voids regulate the metal flow and reduces the turbulence of the metal stream passes through it.

POWERFIL keeps the molten Metal in Liquid state for Longer time to promote directional solidification and improve temperature gradients within the casting. Powerful becomes very efficient after pouring is over.

POWERFIL is best suited for bunch of identical Castings fed by a common Riser. For best results, the distance between ladle nozzle and Mould Surface Should be limited to 300 mm.

Selection of POWERFIL Unit is based on

• Adequate Filtration Capacity of the Foam Filter for the Poured Weight.
• Sufficient Flow rate to avoid Cold Shut Defects.
• Enough Metal for the feeding of castings
• The effective modulus of POWERFIL must be atleast 20% More than the casting Section Modulus.

POWERFIL Sleeves are available in shrink wrapped cardboard trays for the ease of handling and for reducing moisture pick-up in sleeves.

POWERFIL Sleeves should be kept in room temperature. The sleeves should be removed from its packing only at the time of use to avoid moisture pick-up in sleeves.
